Saturday 21 April 2001: "Shaykh 'Abdul-'Azeez Aal ash-Shaykh, the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia, has asked the people to desist from denouncing any Muslim as kaafir.

The matter should be left to competent religious scholars, the mufti said.

Shaykh 'Abdul-'Azeez also said suicide bombings have no basis in the Sharee'ah as it is another form of killing oneself.

Hijacking planes and frightening passengers are also against the Sharee'ah, the Shaykh added.

At the same time, he said fighting the enemy was necessary".
